All designs can be made up in your chosen colours and price is determined by the type of yarn used. As well as working on items for the stall, bespoke orders can be completed in approximately 4 weeks from receipt of a deposit. Please contact me for further details of this service.
E-mails are regularly checked, in spite of being nearly welded to my knitting needles.
Sock Promotion at Forthcoming Craft Events.
Did you know that: Alpaca wool is extremely soft and lustrous. It is a remarkable fibre as it responds to temperature i.e. warm in winter and light and cool in summer. I make luxury socks in this fibre which is particularly suitable for bed socks, wonderful for the elderly, disabled and for folks generally who have cold feet. It is not quite such a robust fibre as wool and socks made from alpaca would need to be hand washed.
If you have never worn handknitted socks then this is your chance to experience their comfort as well as originality. They make a practical gift for the fashionably adventurous and are priced at £15 per pair.
Interested in Vintage?
During the Summer months there is less demand for handmade knitwear which gives me the opportunity to replenish my stock for the Autumn and Winter Craft Fairs and to concentrate on customers’ bespoke orders.
I thought you would be interested to see the latest picture of a couple enjoying a day at a 1930/40’s event which has been forwarded to me by a customer. The pattern for the sleeveless pullover worn by the gentleman was well researched for authenticity and knitted by me in a Jamieson & Smith 100% pure wool yarn. The maroon colour was a very popular choice for men’s jumpers during this period when all handknitting would have been done at home and everything would have been made to measure as was this pullover.
The colours in the vintage yarns tend to be more muted and beautifully blended, some having several colours spun through the yarn. The plain coloured yarns have a lovely texture and really look “the part”.
Do contact me if you have any special events coming up where I could help to complete your retro look. I always welcome comments and suggestions relating to knitwear so if you would like me to add them to my website, please emailme at firstname.lastname@example.org
Looking forward to hearing from knitwear fans.
